Literature Text

Sky walked slowly into the library of the Fae court, Obake following not too far behind. "Come now, child.  There is nothing to be nervous about; the Queen has opened these doors just for your curiosity."
The woman nodded and stepped up to one of many shelves that lined the room.  Reaching up, she pulled a book out at random.  The text had been bound by soft, black leather, the title painted beautifully in a dark purple.
"The Banished One," she mumbled under her breath.  Obake sucked in a breath upon hearing the title, and Sky lifted her head to look at him. "Obake?  What's wrong?"
"Ah, nothing child, nothing.  Excuse me for a moment, please?" Hurriedly the man walked out, leaving Sky to herself.
Shrugging, she stroked the spine of the book and walked over to a table, sliding into one of the elaborate chairs and setting the book down.  Pulling the cover up she gazed down at the first page of the text, her eyes scanning over the introduction.  The writing of the Fae was an art unto itself, each letter not only being a letter, but some sort of illustrated object.
This book holds the life of one such man, cast out from his servitude of highest rank from his god.  He acted with good will, and yet acted with such sin that he slew his own, condemning where he had not the place to condemn.
Sky stopped her reading as she heard footsteps entering the library.  Looking up, she spotted Yosu and smiled.  Pushing her chair back from the table she closed the book and stood. "Hello."
He jumped slightly, having not seen her in the room. "Oh!  Hello, Skyjade.  I didn't see you there."
"It's okay," she laughed, scooping up the book and replacing it on the shelf. "Just came in here to look around."
"I see.  You like to read as well?"
   "It passes the time."
"Hm." Yosu looked at her for a moment, a small smirk appearing upon his face. "Sure, sure.  Someone who only reads to pass time would most definitely go for a thick book like that one," he teased, pointing at The Banished One.  Sky's face flushed slightly, and she shrugged.
"I guess.  But I suppose if it'll make you happy, yes, I do like to read."
Smiling, Yosu stepped past her and pulled the book off of the shelf. "Ah!  The Queen wrote this one herself."
   "She did?"
"Yep.  See right here?" Yosu asked, pointing to a small purple flower that had been drawn at the bottom of the cover. "That's her signature." Sky took the book from him, looking at the flower.
   "Have you read it?"
"Yep.  M'lady ordered me too," he laughed. "But it was a good read." There was a flash of knowing in the man's eye as he spoke, but Sky did not catch it.  Instead, she returned the book to its spot.
"Well, maybe I'll read it some day.  But I think we're leaving soon.  You are coming with us, aren't you?"
"Me?  Ah, well I don't have much of a choice.  But if I could choose, I'd probably come anyway."
   "Why's that?" Sky asked, curious.
"Because Sayo would be going either, and I've got to make sure he doesn't get himself killed," Yosu laughed.  Rolling her eyes, Sky looked past him to see Riku walking into the room.
"We're fixing to leave.  Come on."
"Coming!" Sky slipped past Yosu, running over and wrapping her arms around one of Riku's, snuggling up to him as they walked out.  Smirking, Yosu began to follow the two out.
"This should be an interesting trip."
:iconsoulfreak: gave me the prompt of Sky in a library, and this is what I came up with.

Enjoy the slight mystery thrown in~ :3 And the bit of romance at the end. Yes, Sky and Riku are actually together at one point.

A very interesting read, and quite well written. :D

If I had to make one criticism, it would be that this only seems completely understandable to those who are familiar with your previous work. As a stand-alone, for those unfamiliar with your work and your characters, it makes it a little more confusing, rather than mysterious, which I gather is the effect you were going for. Perhaps try to include a little background information woven into the main text, to make it easier to read on its own.

I hope that makes sense. Keep up your writing. :)
